Bleeding green was my thing
Share
Though I’ve spent my entire 55-years of life bleeding green, in June 2024 I resigned from John Deere.
It wasn’t an easy decision to leave. I was a mid-career hire and had been with Deere 16½ years. I worked with some crazy-smart and uber-creative people. But the quiet fact is I was coming off an unexpected medical leave, and while I was getting better, I made a decision to prioritize my health and wellbeing.
Now I'm cooking healthier meals, gardening, reading, writing a little, and exercising my creative streak with painting and vintage china. While I miss so many of my former colleagues, overall I am healthier, and getting better every day.
My new venture you see here is called Second Spring Studios, an omage to my next career, and to the vintage china that's getting a second chance. I feel like I'm rescuing these pieces and their stories. It's been a lot of work - but the fun kind where I lose myself in what I'm doing and realize I forgot to eat, or it's midnight and I should go to bed.
Upcycling is sustainability at its best! Come along with me and let's see where my next chapter goes.
